Minister tried to kill me
The incident followed a heated exchange of words between the two. Singh is a senior leader of the state's ruling Janata Dal - United (JD-U), while the BJP is a partner in the ruling coalition.
Yadav was first taken to a local hospital in Jamui, about 200 km from the state capital here. Later, he was brought to Patna Medical College and Hospital.
"It was an attempt to kill me. I am facing threat to life. I had apprehended time and again in the recent past that my life is under threat as Singh wanted to eliminate me,' Yadav told IANS here Thursday.

Jammu's Heritage point morphs into commercial site
Jammu's Heritage point morphs into commercial site The much pro claimed "Heritage Point" near Government Degree College for Women Gandhi Nagar on National Highway is morphing into a commercial site due to the lack of coordination between two prime civic bodies viz Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jammu Development Authority (JDA).Officials of these two departments are accusing each other of usurping their domains due to which this point has been turned into a "big commercial site". More than 18 large hoardings with pasted advertisements on about 300 meters stretch are making the landscape of "Heritage Point" ugly.
Ironically, stern warnings issued by the district administration not with standing, various political parties, big companies and educational institutions' hoardings continue to deface public property much to the displeasure of city residents and tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir.

Fuel surcharge on Income tax likely
He has, however, put a rider that the revenue loss that the government suffers should be compensated by allowing him to levy a 2 per cent surcharge on income tax and corporate tax that would fetch not less than Rs 6,000 crores.
This was, however, only one of the suggestions he put forward before Petroleum Minister Murli Deora while discussing with him the heavy losses the state-owned oil companies have been suffering from the rising crude oil prices across the globe.

We're ready for inquiry
This followed a meeting of the battalion commanders of the units of both sides deployed in the sector. Earlier Pakistan had refused to acknowledge that its soldiers had fired across the LoC violating the ceasefire.
"The meeting was held following pressure exerted by the Indian side. We had asked for a meeting in the morning but this was refused. They finally relented in the evening,'' the official said in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh described as worri some the truce violation that occurred when Pakistani troops opened fire in the Tangdhar sector Tuesday evening.
The incident, however, will not lead to any rescheduling of President Pratibha Patil's visit to the Tangdhar sector on May 23, officials in the national capital said.
The director general of military operations (DGMO), Lt. Gen. A.S. Sekhon, spoke on the hotline with his Pakistani counterpart Major General A S Pasha at 3 pm, an Indian Army officer said in New Delhi.

Signs Of The Times
‘Old Delhi, New Delhi. My Experiences' (UBSPD) by Pushan Kumar Dutta, isn't one of those fact laden, heavy takes which get hard to read. On the contrary, written in the story form, along the strain what the aging writer has witnessed all these years, it took me to a different era altogether. The very fact that he isn't a writer in that conventional sense, but a retired pharmaceutical chemist, has made all the difference. He is not trying to show off his writing process, rather offloading one incident after another, webbed in a story like form. And though he does not draw comparisons in the actual sense but, then, they invariably come up what everyday living was in those yesteryears and what it stands
reduced to now, in today's so called ‘developed' phase.

Coalition's last durbar renews many political dreams
The move offices are opening here at a time when almost all the mainstream parties have geared up for the coming assembly elections. While Congress and PDP have managed to keep the coalition government intact since 2002, but right now the two coalition partners are politically and ideologically poles apart. This is understandable since the two parties are in the election mode.
Some reports indicate that UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi and prime minister Dr Manohan Singh are very keen for an electoral alliance between Congress and PDP against the wishes of chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. But only time can tell whether or not such an alliance takes a practical shape.
